Hey all,
Now that we have one more event in the books, it's time to start planning the next one. We are aiming for this event to take place at the Riverhawk Lodge at the Proud Lake Recreation Area in either November or December, depending on camp availability. It's about 45 miles east of the exit for the Mason Camp that we used for this event. We will keep you posted as soon as we have a confirmed date for the event, but let us know if there are any bad ones for any of you.
Now, on to what this event is about...
First off, the term "Barbarian New Year" is a misnomer in some ways because I think it has a lot of people thinking that it's going to be an event filled with barbarians. The Barbarian New Year is actually the non-barbarian term for the annual holding of their Karik'Nai ritual of peace. It is a time of feasting, of remembering the year and lost friends, and to forging new alliances.
Others that live in these northern lands have taken to celebrating this night as well. This event will be taking place, in game, at a "neutral" location to which representatives of Sanctuary, the Barbarian Tribes, the Royal Academy, and other factions have been invited. More will follow on this from an in-game perspective, but I give this information here so that people can get a feel for what the event will be about.
The event format will be different, but we still plan to run from Friday night to Sunday morning (assuming we can get the camp the whole time).
The primary building of the event will be a combat-free zone. This restriction is reached in-game by the Karik'Nai ritual. Because this building will be combat-free, we are going to allow parents to bring children out to this event that would not normally be allowed.
In the main building, we will be primarily running a roleplaying event. There will be a lot of plot going on and a lot of NPCs to meet and interact with.
The secondary building will be a module building. There will be ongoing opportunities to go on modules there. I do not expect that there will be much outdoor action at the event, but weather-permitting, we might get into some of that.
There will be more information to follow, but I hope this gives you an idea of what to expect now.
Let me know if you have any questions.
-Bill
