They say that the definition of Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Well, by that definition, Jay and I are absolutely insane.
I'll be honest with you. At the end of this event, Jay and I were both feeling like we might be at the end of our chapter-running careers (me for the second time).
If you've heard this (in rumor form), let me tell you that after some long discussions with friends, we've been talked back off that cliff. The chapter is going to continue.
However, there are going to be some changes necessary for us to get the chapter onto a track where it has the potential to actually succeed. In order to work, its players are going to have to take more of a cooperative role in making it happen.
After we have had a chance to talk about it more and flesh out the details, I will post more specifics here.
At a minimum, we're going to need some cleanup committment. We will be asking for 5 volunteers per event to take responsibility for the final cleanup of the camp. Those volunteers will be well-rewarded in goblin stamps but will be committing to staying until the camp has been inspected and approved for departure.
In addition, attendance of our events will require multiple NPC shifts during the event. We will likely have a sign-up sheet at logistics to allow you to pick which shifts will work for you. That way, we will be able to be able to best utilize your participation during these shifts.
I know that some people will be disappointed by the fact that they are being forced to leave character for these shifts. But it's the only way that we can make this work. I thank everyone who volunteered at this last event, but there simply weren't enough of you.
If you're not a fighter, we'll have roleplaying parts for you to NPC. If you can't wear makeup for medical reasons, we'll have masks or human parts to play. We're not going to make anyone do anything that they're uncomfortable doing.
In fact, having the schedule in advance will allow us to really use all of you to entertain in much better fashion than we have been able to use the volunteers. We'll actually be able to run those modules that have been sitting on the shelf getting dusty.
