At this time, NERODetroit offers Children of the minimum age of 10 years old by the date the event begins to play as PAGES.
Pages may participate in events as non-combatative casters (healers) and may, with the approval of all staff (Jay, Bill, and myself) be allowed to test for player status in either partial or full capacity.
All three of us have children and understand the want to involve our families and loved ones in this game. We have played in a number of events, however, that allowed younger players or pages, and it suspended the game world that was presented.
We are striving to create the illusion of a living world, and feel that the imagination and rules comprehension of younger children is not up to our expectations.
Currently, Bill's son and Jay's stepson both play in our chapter, and we do have a bevy of younger players enjoying the game. I know I will bring my son out to events eventually, but at six years old, I feel he is not emotionally or physically mature enough to provide a productive addition to the game yet.
We will be holding a yearly event in December called "Barbarian New Year" which will be an in-game meeting of characters. The event will hold combat to minimums in certain restricted areas, so that younger players (and our dedicated spouses who watch them while we play NERO) will be able to come out to events.
Thanks for your understanding in this matter!
