Thanks for clearing that up for me Bill! I'll be sure to make a point of announcing my contingency. Luther told me a trick about makign it contingent a few seconds after death so badies will run away and maybe miss you murmuring. I think it would be a bit more cinematic if there was a flash or a pop maybe. I'll see if I cant find something fun to do with it.

Luther told me a trick about makign it contingent a few seconds after death so badies will run away and maybe miss you murmuring. As far as I was aware, this happened exactly AT death, be it bleeding out, killing blow, or death spell/alchemy/carrier. If you could delay it, you know I'd set mine at 4:59 into dead, so I'm going through someone else's life spells, not mine.

Please refer to the NERO formal magic rules section on Cantrips for the short list of triggers that can be used for a contingency to take effect. The Bard is right. If you set the trigger at "death," it immediately takes effect when death occurs through whatever method. There is no longer a means to set a timer on when it happens. "30 seconds after binding" and "4 minutes after death" used to be popular options, but the rules now do not support those kind of timers any longer.

That explains a lot. Luther admitted he hadnt been a scholar or even a caster for quite a while and was still adjusting to 9th ED. I take full responsibility for blowing it and I should have went to plot before following what I was told through word of mouth. Bill, if you'd like I'll happily pull before next event, if there's one thing I cant stand, it's a cheater.
