Hey all!
I'm hoping to come out to the November 2012 event, so I thought I'd introduce myself. I just played my first NERO event in Kzoo as the Mystic Wood Elven slave and had a blast. I've been LARPing for 12 years now and my primary LARP has been Shifted Lands during that time. I've also played Final Haven/Winter Haven, CARPS and even did a couple of events at KANAR. My characters have ranged from a highly political Elven mage to a Paladin Knight Kesserin (think Noble Japanese) to an Orc Shaman named "Ugly."
I'm originally from the Detroit area (Sterling Heights, actually) and moved down to Fort Wayne, Indiana about 4 1/2 years ago for an awesome job and an awesome man. We have two boys together, ages 9 and 12, and we're all gamer dorks.
By trade I have worked or volunteered in the nonprofit industry ever since I graduated from college and I also did a three-year stint as a federal investigator. Most of my career has been doing program development and grant management - and recently I transitioned into marketing and communications.
Besides LARPing, I love photography, painting and sewing. My art is focused in a very specific genre and I have been in over 50 exhibitions over the past 6 years, published numerous times and I travel quite a bit for exhibitions and to teach workshops to support my hobby. The genre is a little controversial, so I won't post a link to my art here, but if you're interested (and over 18) send me a message and I'll send you the link.
In terms of my sewing, I have probably equipped about a quarter of Shifted Lands's wardrobe collection (they have a HUGE collection), but ironically, despite the fact that I'm a photographer, I haven't ever bothered taking pictures of my work. If you're interested in seeing the collection of stock images of patterns that I work from, check out this link:
The Harpy & The Hag
If you're interested in having me design and sew something for you, feel free to send me a message at talanamoonwynd@yahoo.com and/or talk to me in game (my character is also a tailor, so it'd be appropriate). I'll bring a few pieces to each event for you to check out and buy or order customized digs.
See you all soon!
