Totally understand Jennele. I vote we look at Fort Custer, then, as Evan has suggested. If they force us to reserve two nights, it'd be $120 total. If we've got six or so people, that's $20 a head. Any more people, it's even cheaper. Not bad for an overnight setup. And I presume at some point it will devolve into story telling and beer, which would also help to defray the costs, but I could be wrong...
Can't wait!

That was my interpretation of it as well. I just love the fact that we're basically putting together a one day with us all getting together to meet around a campfire and discuss the future. I'm glad this chapter is getting PC driven once again instead of just walking down a road and getting smacked in the face by plot. It's a good feeling to know that we can really change the world and the people around us.

I am hoping that the Fort Cluster place will work cause I think it would be the best option for Dave and I. I don't know if you can have alcohol on that site but I am not opposed to having it if we can. I know Evan and Dave don't drink but I would happily bring a bottle of wine to share or a six pack of something. lol. As the one who usually brings them I can state right now that I am not bringing either of the minors that I bring to game with us for this. I personally would prefer this not devolve into a full out one-day with combat and such as I think that kinda defeats the purpose of this meeting. It is so that we can talk and discuss without the interuption of things that need to be killed and I would like to continue that idea. I am confident that we could entertain ourselves for a day/evening just fine.

I tend to agree, Jennele. I wasn't thinking about combat either, when I proposed the idea. It was more of a backyard or living room or back room of a restaurant thing. A camp is also an awesome idea and I am all for it, but if goblins and undead are busting in, that will defeat the purpose (at least as I see it). In game, I think we would ward or otherwise defend the area so we could get some peace and quiet to talk very serious matters. We'll need to look at maps, talk alliances, and decide the fate of the lands, as we hope to see it. Constant interruptions wouldn't aid that cause. That's my take.
I think we should decide in game whether we want to invite any non-adventurers. We might, for example, want to have audiences with members of Remlick, the barbarians, the goblins, etc. It could complicate things, but it could also add a lot to the substance of our discussion. What do you guys think about that?

I wouldn't be against a member of Remlick coming to the discussions, but that is because I have ties to that place. The barbarians are definitely worth considering because should be get the wolf and bear their lands back, we will want them as allies. The goblins, I am hesitant of as their nature doesn't support peaceful negotiations often.

I think that once we move on the discussion of who we might wish audiences with we need to move back to the in game thread of this or begin private messages. As for protecting the location we will deal with that ingame as well, though in my expierience things only attack during market fairs. The towns are eerily quiet once a fair is over. lol.

So I guess this leaves the question of how long do we want to wait before reserving a cabin? My inclination is to give it until Monday and see how much interest we have (although even if its just me, Jen, Dave, Joe, and Armond I would still be down for it) then make reservations if people are still game and nobody has any better ideas for location.
I dont have any plans for this weekend, so I might head out and check out the cabin this weekend just to make sure its not some dumpy POS...depends on how motivated I get.

I will leave the time frame of reserving it to you. You said more then one was available so hopefully at least one would still be available after the weekend. I think letting the weekend happen to see if we get more interest would be great so that we have a good idea of how much per person. I agree with you Evan that even with the current list Dave and I are in.

No preference on the timeline for reserving the place. But I am in 100% even if it is just the five of us.

Joe put it up before i could. Are we okay with booze at this as long as there's no combat? I mean if it's officially sanctioned as a one-day event then technically we can't drink until we call game. Not too complicated, i just want to get it out in the open beforehand because that was half the appeal to me. Actually being able to drink while in character sounds like a lot of fun. Also i'll be bringing a newbie along to this. I figure it's the best way to get her into the world and the roleplay before actually attending an event.

I will be the first to put my preference's on this out there. I personally do not mind some mild drinking but I am not going to be dealing with people who are drunk or obnoxious when drinking. Also, I believe that if alcohol is allowed by the site (I do not know the answer to that) that people should be aware it is entirely BYOB.
Tux, I can see why you feel bringing a new player to this might be easier then an event but I would like to bring up the point that she may be very bored. This is not something where there is going to be a lot to get involved in as we are going to be talking about things most if not all of us are already involved in and have been dealing with. The entire point of this is to make decisions as PC's based on the information we have been presented with thus far by plot and it may be more confusing for her to be introduced in this environment then at an actual event. I know this keeps getting referred to as a one-day but that is really only in the loosest of terms. This is more like the after game lunch that used to happen in the Midwest then what a one day usually is.
That's my two cents on everything and I must note that I am so uber excited it's not even funny.... its more likely a little sad really. lol.

I definitely like the idea of an In-Game: camp fire and light meal discussion without fighting.
If it should turn out that drinking is acceptable, I will bring my home-brewed Mead. I make a lot of it and drink very little. I was actually known at the SCA events I used to attend for my mead.
Either way, drink or no drink, combat or bloodshed free, I plan on attending and bringing my wife and daughter along if allowed.

Mike,
I think the mead sounds wonderful and I know that I for one would love to try it. As for "being allowed" to bring the wife and child I see no reason why not. I made the comments to Tux not to discourage him from bringing a new player but more to make sure he thought about the differences between starting at a real event and starting at a more closed in RP session. I happily welcome anyone and everyone new that may come to this, just worry about people feeling excluded due to the nature of the meeting.
I am very excited about this and can't wait to get together.
